Liko, 1- year-old Corgi / Spaniel Cross
Liko is a sweet, energetic young dog adopted by a very active retiree who volunteers at the shelter. When she saw this little stray come into the shelter for adoption, she knew Liko would have to come home with her! Once home however, Nancy realized that Liko was not housetrained, as advertised. She also pulled on the leash and was obsessed with rabbits, making walks difficult for them both. Nancy had experience competing in obedience and agility with her last dog, but Liko was proving hard to turn around herself.
Liko, like many young dogs, was just young and excitable and needed someone with experience to spend some time teaching her how to be a good, calmer companion. Even as a small dog, she could still benefit from use of a vibration collar. She responded so well to our training program and was soon housetrained and able to go anywhere with Nancy.
“I am an “older” dog parent… I had not had a puppy since 2014, and found that although I have always had dogs, I had no idea how to train and correct some of the simple problems that my new little guy, Liko, presented. (Housesoiling, leash pulling, prey chasing, recall……at least no barking)! I wanted a place that would work with my desire to help me have a well behaved companion without breaking his wonderful spirit!
BlackPaw Dog Training with Bernadette and her fabulous young trainers fulfilled every wish! They are incredible! After two weeks Liko returned home, happy, joyful, and fun, but with manners. Our neighborhood walks and off-leash time are fun, and both he and I look forward to them!!!! I realize they gave him the foundation, and now I understand what I need to do to continue his success.
